1. Driver's Age & License Requirements
To rent a vehicle from Drive Safe Rhodes, the requirements per vehicle category are:
- 50cc Scooters: Minimum age 18+. Requires AM license.
- 125cc Scooters: Minimum age 18+. Requires A1, A2, or A license.
- 300cc+ Scooters/Motos: Minimum age 21+. Requires A2 or A license.
- Quads / ATVs (up to 450cc): Minimum age 21+. Requires B (Car) license.
* Non-EU citizens (e.g., USA, Australia, Canada) must present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their national license.
2. Insurance Coverage
All our rental rates include Third Party Insurance. We typically offer additional coverage options:
- Third Party Insurance (Basic): Covers damages to third parties (other vehicles/people) but not the rental vehicle itself.
- C.D.W. (Collision Damage Waiver): Limits the renter's liability for damage to the rental vehicle to an excess amount (deductible).
- F.D.W. (Full Damage Waiver): Reduces the excess amount to zero or a minimal fee.
- Exceptions: No insurance covers damages caused by negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, driving off-road (sand/rocks), or damages to tires, mirrors, and the underside of the vehicle.
3. Fuel Policy
Same to Same: The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as it was at the start of the rental. If returned with less fuel, the renter will be charged for the difference. No refunds are given for excess fuel.
4. Rental Period & Grace Period
The minimum rental period is 1 day (24 hours). We allow a delay (grace period) of up to 30 minutes for the return of the vehicle. After this time, an extra day may be charged.
5. Traffic Violations & Fines
The renter is solely responsible for any traffic violations and fines (e.g., speeding, illegal parking, not wearing a helmet) incurred during the rental period.
6. Restrictions & Safety
- Off-Road Driving: Strictly prohibited for standard scooters and road vehicles. ATVs must be driven carefully on designated paths.
- Ferrying: Transporting the vehicle outside the island of Rhodes is not allowed without written permission from our office.
- Helmets: Wearing a helmet is mandatory by Greek law. We provide cleaned and sanitized helmets free of charge for both driver and passenger.
- Keys: Loss of vehicle keys is not covered by insurance. The renter will be charged for replacement and delivery costs.
7. Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your reservation free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time. Cancellations made within less than 48 hours may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to one day's rental.
